Chris Barrett, Recordist/Editor

Chris, our most senior recordist, has established himself as one of the most highly regarded Pro Tools recordists and score editors within film scoring. Bringing with him a wealth of technical and recording knowledge, Chris is an asset to all sessions and much in demand, both at AIR and on external projects.

He has worked with orchestras and choirs for a wide variety of film soundtracks and scores – including Mission: Impossible – Fallout (Lorne Balfe), 21 Bridges (Henry Jackman and Alex Belcher) and IT Chapter Two (Benjamin Wallfisch).

John Prestage, Recordist / Assistant

John joined AIR in 2011 and works on high-profile film and band projects. Since Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar in 2014, he has regularly taken the role of Pro Tools recordist on many major film scores including Isle of Dogs by Alexander Desplat, Red Sparrow by James Newton-Howard, Lady in the Van by George Fenton , alongside his work on album projects for Adele, Biffy Clyro, Muse, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and many others.

Laurence Anslow, Recordist / Assistant

Laurence joined AIR in 2011 after graduating from the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey. Since then he has worked on a collection of high-profile productions as a Pro Tools recordist, including Dunkirk (Hans Zimmer), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Daniel Pemberton), Loving Vincent (Clint Mansell), Mary Queen of Scots (Max Richter) and The Crown (Martin Phipps).

He has also assisted on recordings by Joshua Bell of Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy/Violin Concerto No.1, and by Inon Barnatan of Beethoven’s Trio/Emperor and Violin Concertos, as well as albums by Paul McCartney (New), Mumford & Sons (Wilder Mind), Muse (The Second Law), and Coldplay (A Head Full of Dreams).

Alex Ferguson, Engineer

Clients & Collaborators: Jeremy Holland-Smith, Alan Menken, Christopher Nightingale, Benji Pasek, Justin Paul, Max Richter, Joby Talbot

With much of his career unfolding at AIR Studios, Alex has worked on some of the best-known films of the last decade: his portfolio includes feature musicals The Little Mermaid, Matilda the Musical, and Rocketman, alongside Back To The Future: The Musical for the West End. In 2024, he received a Golden Reel nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Music Editing for his work on Paul King’s Wonka, a process that spanned over two years.

Jack Mills, Assistant Engineer

Jack joined AIR in October 2018 from Abbey Road Studios. He works as ProTools Operator and Editor on film, TV and game scores. Recent projects include Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (Bear McCreary), Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Lorne Balfe), Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (Harry Gregson-Williams) and Migration (John Powell).

Ashley Andrew-Jones, Runner

Ash has been a member of the AIR team since 2017, first joining while studying on the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey. Since graduating in 2019 he now regularly works as a ProTools Recordist and Score Editor for Film, TV and Video Game projects.

Gianluca Massimo, Engineer

In recent projects, Gian has showcased his versatility in engineering across film, TV, and Music. From mixing David Arnold’s score for the ITV series Douglas is Cancelled, to recording strings for Sam Smith’s latest single Little Sailor, to recording and mixing for Yungblud’s live session as part of the Coke Studios series recorded at AIR Studios.

Jedidiah Rimell, Runner

Jed is an assistant engineer at AIR Studios, having joined the team as a runner in August 2020. Following his graduation from SAE London in 2016, Jed set off to work as a freelancer across both live and studio applications for the next three years.
