AIR Studios Sound Tuning |
The AIR Studios logo on a Pioneer product means we have been involved in the design since the prototype. It is a guarantee that some of the best 'ears' in the world have approved the product. There are two levels of certification; Monitor Reference for critical applications and Monitor for less critical applications.

Philosophy
|
|
AIR's experience in surround film scoring and pure stereo music recording means we have some strong ideas about designing a home theatre amplifier.
• Stereo must sound excellent and multi-channel should be just as good. This requires identical, independent, discrete power amps for each channel.
• No unnecessary digital processing. 'Direct' modes that genuinely provide as clean a signal path as possible.
• Mixing room monitors are aligned for correct distance, SPL and frequency response. Such adjustments are required at home without recourse to a professional acoustician.
Pioneer met and exceeded these requirements with Discrete Output A.D.E MOSFET, Direct Construction and Advanced MCACC.

Development
|
|
Listening tests are conducted in our control rooms (usually Studio 3) by a panel of recording, mixing and technical engineers at each stage of development. Pioneer design engineers perform on-site modifications if necessary. When the final listening tests are complete and we are happy with sonic performance the pre-production prototype is shipped back to Japan. It is stripped and provides the build list for all production models which are thus replicas of the products approved at AIR.
