Technical Engineer

AIR Studios has a vacancy for an experienced Technical Engineer to join its growing team providing technical support to our staff and clients.

AIR Studios Technical Department provides support for all equipment, software and technical service aspects of the studio operation. This is provided to our in-house staff and external clients. All electronic equipment, from vintage analogue to the latest digital systems, are diagnosed and repaired to component level. IT and communication systems are installed and supported in-house. It is a high pressure environment with high profile clients. We work to tight time constraints and operate shifts over weekends and evenings to ensure the studio always has on-site technical cover.

Specifically the required candidate:

  • Experience working as technical support engineer in a high-end professional recording studio.
  • Be familiar with AMS Neve and SSL large format mixing consoles and be able to fault find and repair at component level.
  • Ability to setup Protools hardware and software from scratch.
  • Ability to line-up and support Studer and Ampex tape machines.
  • Experience with the technical aspects of orchestral film scoring and recording to picture.

This is a full-time permanent position that involves working a 3-week rota system with scheduled weekend shifts and late shifts. The candidate should have had experience of being the sole member of on-site staff responsible for technical support in a recording studio facility.

The position has a starting salary of £32k pa.
